Eric Burdon - The Animals - We Gotta Get Out Of This Place

Uploaded by: TangerineSequel
Video Description:
This video seems to have disappeared. There is another version of this with a 50 second introduction here: www dot youtube dot com/watch?v=TpNWSW49IBM . But the version I'm uploading does not have the introduction.
Until viewing You Tube I was not aware of Eric Burdon and The Animals, I had heard their songs, but didn't know who sang them. It's not a good idea for You Tube to remove these videos since they are a form of marketing and they make people aware of these artists. For example I just bought the 2 CD set "The Complete Animals [Extra Tracks] [Import]" from Amazon. They contain 41 tracks, the complete recordings made with Mickie Most as producer. Some of their future songs are not included since Mickie Most was not the producer at that time. Wouldn't have bought these CDs had I not learned about Eric Burdon and The Animals from these You Tube videos.

@wopcats i maybe have not lived at the time the song was made..but im pretty shure i combine many others things with song than vietnam....and to be honest i dont even care about the true meaning of it...since this song apllies to many different situations...in witch it posesses at least the same meaning and truth...though it is interessting to hear what it actually was meant to say.And i agree completle on the second part about change...

This was 1 of the 2 songs that the US Military wouldn't allow to be played on the AFVN radio network during the Vietnam War. The other song was Peter, Paul, and Mary's "Leaving on a jet plane".

doesn't matter the song's intent or the band's. it became the song that a generation of Vietnam Veterans identified with. I remember hearing this song in a bar just before me and some friends boarded a plane leaving Vietnam for Seattle...

@mscatusa My husband says "thankyou!" I am very distressed about some of the comments here about Vietnam Vets... so sad! You all come and meet my Vietnam vet, he is a true Vet whos number came up and he HAD to serve in Vietnam as a infantryman and it has messed up our whole life together 37 years this July 28th we have been married and I dont remember one year without.... well, you all wouldnt understand anyway so why waste my breath.

A beautiful bass run. This is a British rock group. They come from a blue collar background in a blue collar city. It reflects the trap many of this class get caught in. Nothing about Nam in this song

I think we’re arguing the two sides of the same coin. It was released in 65 by The Animals long before the Vietnam War made it into popular culture in the UK. Later it did become an anthem of the war. But the reason it was recorded by the group was probably a reflection of The Animals working class background. If you have ever seen smokestack cities of the UK such as Birmingham, you would get this. They resemble the rust belt of the U.S. but are much grungier.
