ron paul is a super decent man who would be very good for the US. unfortunately libertarianism is a pie-in-the-sky utopian ideology in the way that communism was. neither ideology deals with the reality of human nature very effectively. he seems a bit more cognizant of that though than his batshit crazy son.

@pmcdon02 every american political ideology believes and claims their agenda most closely aligns with the "founding fathers'" intentions and the constitution was designed to accommodate all kinds of points of views. you aren't saying anything substantive or anything that negates my original comment. the road to hell is paved with the kinds of good intentions libertarianism offers, just as it was with communism.

@pmcdon02 i don't doubt that. i think ron paul is awesome. i just think it's dangerous to to go in for a nutty ideology just because it's best proponent is an honest and charismatic guy. so what happens when he's gone and we're left with his son (who isn't wrapped too tightly) or worse, some flake who attaches herself to that ideology out of the blue like sarah palin.

Freedom people, every generation has at least one defining moment, we could miss the chance in 2012. Right now, economically, doesnt work. Hasnt for decades. If we werent digging our selves out of a hole, we were digging ourselves into a new one, boom, bust boom bust. If only memories stretched the entire course of an issue...
